Safety in the home is often challenging for individuals with dementia if not properly addressed. Stoves or ovens left on, unsafe heating or A/C, trip or fall hazards, wandering off and becoming lost, failure to take their medication and unsafe driving are some of the most common concerns.

We understand the challenges families face with a loved one diagnosed with dementia. Our RN’s create an individualized plan of care for the patient by following the doctors’ orders and working with the family. This includes addressing activities of daily living as well as caregiver to patient compatibility, communication, dealing with stress, negative behaviors, guilt, anger, restlessness, incontinence, wandering, and control challenges. Additionally, any other concerns of the family or care givers are addressed.

Change in surroundings can take an emotional toll on anyone, especially for those challenged with cognitive impairment. Familiarity of ones living space can help reduce some of the stresses associated with dementia. Private Duty is a great solution if a patient wants maintain their independence at home and is agreeable to some assistance.

During the early stages of dementia, our services are designed to prolong a patients’ ability to stay as independent as possible. However, as a patients’ condition declines we are there too provide the compassion and care to ensure they are comfortable, and safe.
